12 Days Wildlife safari (Samburu, Aberdare, Nakuru, Amboseli, Naivasha, Mara)

 Day 01: Nairobi -Samburu

Pick up from the Airport and drive north crossing the Equator to Samburu Game Reserve arriving in time for lunch. This is an area of wild and stark beauty with thorn scrub, volcanic rock and dramatic rocky mesas. Palms grow on the banks of the meandering Ewaso Nyiro River, which attracts the many wild animals of the region. Samburu is the home to many rare species of animals such as the reticulated giraffe, grevy zebra, beisa Oryx, and the long-necked gerenuk antelope. An afternoon game drive in the reserve is followed by dinner and overnight in at a lodge.

 Day 02: Samburu

One full day will be spent in this reserve with morning and afternoon game drives. Samburu National Reserve is a wildlife haven. The reserve is also popular with a minimum of 900 elephants. Large predators such as; lion. Leopard and cheetah are an important attraction – kamunyak the miracle lioness that adopted the baby Oryx is a resident in the reserve. Some animals are unique to this northern Kenya Park: Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe and gerenuk. The Ewaso Nyiro River, the boundary with the neighboring Buffalo Springs National Reserve, is where the elephants, buffalo and other animal species gather for a drink. You will find the scenic semi arid landscape quite dramatic. The reserve is located within the lands of the colorful semi-nomadic Samburu tribesmen.  Dinner and overnight at a Lodge.

Day 03: samburu- Aberdare

After an early breakfast drive to Aberdare National park, arriving in time for lunch at the lodge. This park has a dramatic wooden lodge built deep within the forest. A floodlit waterhole and salt lick in full view of the comfortable lounge areas allow guests to watch animals at any time of night, rhino, lion, elephant and buffalo are regular visitors. Dinner and overnight at a lodge.

Day 04: Aberdare- Nakuru

Depart after breakfast and drive to Nakuru arriving in time for lunch at your lodge. After lunch enjoy your afternoon game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park you will see huge flocks of pink flamingoes as well as other birdlife and many animals, especially waterbuck and warthogs. Dinner and overnight at a Nakuru Lodge.

 Day 05: Nakuru – Amboseli

Enjoy breakfast and drive to Amboseli National Park arriving in time for lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon enjoy a game drive in the park. Situated at the foot of towering, snow – peaked Mount Kilimanjaro (the tallest mountain in Africa), this 1,000 sq. mile park is best known for its abundance of elephant. An evening game drive offers an opportunity to see these proud giants up close and the chance to spot many other species of animals and birds. Return to the lodge in time for dinner and overnight at a lodge/camp.

Day 06: Amboseli

A pre-breakfast game drive is an excellent time to view the game when the snow-capped peaks of Mt. Kilimanjaro are at their most spectacular. After lunch, another game drive includes a visit to the swamps, which teem with all sorts of wildlife and an amazing assortment of birds. All meals and overnight at a lodge/camp.

Day 07: Amboseli- Naivasha

After an early breakfast drive to Naivasha and arrive in time for lunch at L.Naivasha resort. Afternoon spent at leisure. Dinner and overnight at a Lodge.

Day 08: Naivasha-Mara

Enjoy breakfast and drive to Masai Mara National Reserve arriving in time for lunch at your lodge. After lunch you will enjoy a game drive which will allow you the chance to enjoy the interaction of wild animals in the magnificent park. As well as searching for the Big Five, you will see herds of plains game and spot many marvelous birds. The Masai Mara is regarded as the jewel of Kenya’s wildlife viewing areas. There have been some 95 species of mammals, amphibians and reptiles, over 400 bird species recorded on the reserve. Nowhere in Africa is wildlife more abundant and it is for this reason a visitor hardly misses to see the big five. Dinner and overnight at a Lode/camp.

Day 09-11: Masai Mara

Morning and afternoon game drive will enable you experience the interaction of animals in the natural habitat. Probably the most famous of the reserves, the Maasai Mara, in Kenya’s south western corner, boasts an astonishing amount of game. Unfenced, the Mara is bounded in the east by the Ngama Hills and in the west by the Oloololo or Siria Escarpment. Gazelle, wildebeest and zebra graze in large numbers and where prey is found so are predators. Not only is this a great place in which to find game, but the wide greenly-gold savannahs spotted with thorn trees make it ideal for photography. The Mara, as it is known in Kenya, is ravishingly beautiful and also offers long, undisturbed views and utterly dramatic panoramas. The weather really means something here. The sun may beat down unforgiving, huge clouds in fabulous shapes may sweep across the widest of skies, and the wind ripples the grasses as though they are stroked by a giant hand. The landscape is stunning. All meals and overnight at a lodge/camp.

Day 12: Masai Mara – Nairobi

Enjoy breakfast before driving back via the Great Rift valley to Nairobi arriving at approximately 1400hrs.Drop off at a city hotel/ airport for your outbound flight.(please advise us on your departure details).
